Melbourne is just so... well, Melbourne. I think that fits best. In a little nut shell:
Melbourne is 3/4 Asian speaking, 1/2 German backpackers speaking about Wurst und Beer, clouds of alternative people whirling on the streets and heaps of street artists. In Melbourne 3/4 + 1/2 = 1, because on the southern hemisphere all is just different. Catching my drift?
Melbourne is the most beautiful street graffiti everywhere. Melbourne is wrong way traffic, most interesting conversation with strangers in public transport and fluffy pink Japanese stores. Melbourne is living outside, laid back Aussie people, drinking water all the time and ridiculous prices, except for gasoline cause a short drive is only a couple of hours. Melbourne is not a city nor a big village town; it's both Sydney and Adelaide. Spiced up with a hot multicultural flavour.
Melbourne is wearing stinky helmets while cycling, having a tram accident with a taxi, sushi bars on every street corner, festivals without a party and big ginormous fines for jaywalking. Melbourne is one of the biggest tram networks in te works, obviously without the matching number of trams.
